The Database Administrator is a key member of the Foundation team, responsible for administering and managing the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT constituent management database. With meticulous attention to detail, the successful candidate will own all aspects of the database to ensure data cleanliness and integrity, timely and accurate gift processing, and thorough reporting and analysis. This role requires a proactive, flexible, and team-focused workstyle, and an individual who can think critically, work collaboratively, and be process- oriented.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Database Administrator will play a pivotal role in enabling the entire Foundation team to perform with greater efficiency and accountability, to meet our goal of improving healthcare in our communities.

What you will be doing

  • Manage and maintain the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT database to ensure maximum efficiency as a constituent relationship management system. This includes but is not limited to constituent record updates, data clean-up and data integrity, ensuring accuracy for donor stewardship, recognition, moves management and solicitation.
  • Champion data management best practices and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee the recording and processing of all contributions, ensuring all gifts are promptly and accurately entered, receipted, and acknowledged.
  • Manage the import and export of data files for direct mail, telemarketing, and email marketing campaigns, ensuring accuracy in all data related analysis and reporting.
  • Create and run requested queries, data reports, analysis and/or data files from Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT in accordance with set timelines and provide meaningful insights based on analysis of data reports.
  • Work with the leadership team to plan and implement data strategies to meet organizational goals.
  • Create dashboards and other data analysis tools to track fundraising and financial results.
  • Generate reports and analyse data to inform regular reporting cycles and strategic plans.
  • Stay up to date on Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT trends and developments and work with the team to use Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT to its fullest potential.
  • Develop and maintain data and gift entry procedures and guidelines. 
  • Train and onboard new staff on Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

What we want to see from you

  • University degree/College diploma in a relevant field or a related mix of education and experience.
  • High-level of proficiency in using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT systems (or similar).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in managing Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT (or similar) as a data administrator responsible for providing oversight and support for management of the data residing within the system.
  • High-level of proficiency and expertise with Microsoft Applications especially MS Excel including creation of advanced pivot tables and reports using formulas.
  • High degree of expertise and ability to support several data strategy projects including data validity, standardization, and integrity projects; experience in data cleanups, duplicate eradication, and similar data related functions.
  • Demonstrated experience analysing data, creation of benchmarks and scorecards for fundraising and financial reporting.
  • Meticulous and process-driven with a demonstrated ability to consistently and effectively produce high quality work; demonstrated ability to work under the direction but also with minimal supervision as a self-starter; ability to create new processes & execute continuous process improvements.
  • Ability to foster collaborative, effective working relationships with peers, employees, donors, government officials and other external contacts.
  • Advise on contract negotiations from a financial impact perspective.
  • Previous experience in a non-profit or a public section is an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience with donor/prospect databases (Raiser's Edge NXT) is an asset.
  • Sound and independent judgment; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion where required.
  • Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.

Hiring salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 per annum for 37.5 hours per week.
