Brenda Kinney
Director
Brenda Kinney is a Registered Nurse by profession with a varied 43-year career in the New Brunswick health care system as a provider and health care leader. Brenda has held numerous progressive leadership positions that led to her retirement from Horizon Health Network in May 2024 from the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer portfolio. Following retirement, Brenda does contract teaching at the University of New Brunswick Saint John for nursing and health sciences students. Brenda has a passion for excellence in patient care and staff satisfaction which drives her to seek innovative strategies for advancing our health system forward to best serve New Brunswickers.

Dr. Christopher Small
Director
Dr. Christopher Small attended Memorial University of Newfoundland Medical School and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at MUN in 2018. He completed fellowships in spine surgery and orthopedic trauma surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Dr. Small joined the Saint John Orthopedics team in September of 2020. His elective practice focuses on diseases of the spine, including trauma, tumour, deformity and degenerative disease. Dr. Small also has a busy orthopedic trauma practice, treating upper and lower extremity trauma in adult and pediatric patients. Dr. Small is an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University and Memorial University of Newfoundland and is heavily involved in teaching medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Small has an active research practice focusing on diseases of the spine and is the Primary Investigator for the Canada East Spine Centre.

Peter Turnbull
Director
Peter Turnbull is the Regional Director of South Operations for Medavie Health Services New Brunswick, the management company for Ambulance New Brunswick. With over 29 years of experience in healthcare, Peter is a licensed paramedic and a seasoned leader who has had a variety of management roles throughout his career. A recipient of the Governor General’s Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal, Peter is recognized for his dedication to public service and excellence in emergency care. He is deeply passionate about helping others and is committed to developing the next generation of healthcare leaders. Peter holds a Bachelor of Integrated Studies from the University of New Brunswick, with a minor in political science and leadership, as well as a Diploma in Emergency Health Service Management from Dalhousie University. His areas of expertise include leadership, project management, emergency incident management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. Driven by a strong desire for continuous learning and growth, Peter is proud to contribute to the evolution of the healthcare system. He is “excited to be part of something bigger working to enhance the lives of others through innovation, collaboration, and compassionate leadership.”
